Dearest Cleo

Happy Quarter Day !! You are getting to be quite a big girl now. I had a great time at the park on Saturday and I am looking forward to celebrating Auburns Birthday next weekend. Today I am putting together a GDrive for my course and I have almost finished it, I am just adding the finishing touches with a selection of 25 of the best works from my sketchbooks. It is only at a time like this that you realise how many sketchbooks you have filled during the period of the course there are lots really but these are what I think are the best 25 in no particular order.

Well I quite enjoyed that, all of them bring back pleasant memories of the last 18 months and some of them will grow up into paintings I think. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday after school.

Dear Cleo

Hope you are having a good week and it is not far to Easter and another holiday, life drawing class is already on end of term break and this is the work I did at the last session.

I am very pleased with this one because it has a definate sense of movement and looks as if he could move at any time

Again he looks alive, maybe I have finally cracked the life drawing business.

Since then I have had a very busy week. the online gallery is not completed, but it is sufficiently complete for you to go over and have a peek at https://mickos.co.uk/ I have also been struggling with the bag of shells that you brought me but that is a whole other story I will start to tell you tomorrow.

Happy Quarter Day!

I have been quite busy watching Mario creating my new web site, it is live but it is not finished yet, so I don’t want to give it too much publicity until all the walls are populated, the floors are swept and it looks like a proper gallery. When that is done I will give you a link here.

In the meantime with all the business, I have not been posting here so often so here are the life drawings that I have worked on in my brief absence, whatever happens the show must go on.

This one I like and I think there is a pattern emerging, once I have drawn somebody two or three times I am begining to capture a bit of their individuallity and they look look more fluid on the page because of it.

Figure 5 Charcoal on A2 sugar paper

Technically this is not a life drawing, it was done from Croquis Cafe 214 from a paused television screen. I used the same working process that I use in the life room but it took around forty minutes as opposed to the usual twenty minutes for the rest of the drawings here. I think I need to make an effort to find a life class with a single pose as I could probably calture much more of the essence of the person without the rush.

The same individuallity is creeping in here again and if you look closely you can see the remnants of my construction lines. I think with some tracing paper this could be developed, a la Degas, into a fully rounded individual.

Really looking forward to catching up with you tomorrow see you then

I think I have developed a process for life drawing that is begining to work, it involes charcoal and A2 sugar paper and a bit of dancing at the easel. Maybe it is time to mix it up a bit and try a different process, or maybe this process could be transfer to mt other drawings?
